Link #253 - Have you ever felt like giving up?

Greetings in the name of Jesus.

No matter where you are on your spiritual journey there is one experience we all share. At different times in our lives we encounter discouragement and feel like giving up. We go through times where we want to give up on our jobs, our relationships, our Church., ourselves, our recovery, etc. I’m so grateful that scripture gives us great insight in how we can deal with those times in our lives. We see many examples of heroes of our faith struggling through times they want to give up. Sometimes they are referred to as wilderness, or desert experiences. This week we will explore the response of Elijah as he faced a “desert” crisis in his life. If you are feeling like giving up I’d like to encourage you to hang on. Hang on at least until Sunday morning and come and the wonderful invitation God gives us to find our way out of the desert. I’m specifically praying that those who feel like they are in a desert experience will be with us Sunday at 10am.

The menu for this weeks Community Meal starts with home made cream of tomato soup, along with macaroni and cheese casserole with a garden salad - grapes for dessert. The Bloor Central weekend always starts with our Community Meal from 4-6pm on Saturday. It is a great time to invite a friend, or come and make a new one. Everybody is welcome.

A couple quick announcements. (1) Next Sunday, May 25 is our Volunteer Sunday. We will be honoring all those who volunteer at Bloor Central and join them in a BBQ after the service. (2) The next week (June 1) is a verry busy Sunday. First of all we will be doing the first dedication at Bloor Central in several years. The Salvation Army has a tradition to dedicate new babies to God, in so doing the parents, and the congregation commit to raising our children in a way that pleases God. This is a beautiful ceremony which is very significant for us. ALSO on that same day we will be taking up a “mission offering” which raises funds for The Salvation Army work in Indonesia. We encourage you to prayerfully consider how you can participate in this important offering.

See you at Bloor Central this weekend.
