7ate9 (Community Meal)
7ate9 our Community Meal operates every Saturday and is run almost entirely on volunteer power! We have “Kitchen” volunteers to help with food preparation earlier in the day, and our “Front of House” crew come in to serve the meals restaurant style.
Community Food Centre
A lot of work goes into running a Community Food Centre! Our volunteers are an invaluable part of our staff, helping unload our deliveries, stock the food room, packing and distributing the food to our members, as well as touching base and acting as receptionists for people seeking out information and contact.
Other Opportunities
With only five people on staff, we rely heavily on volunteers, who are involved in all our activities including cleaning and maintenance around the building. There are also various opportunities throughout the year to help on specific projects or during a “season,” such as our Spring Clean (property clean-up); Summer Green Thumb Group (gardening); the Touch-Up Crew (building painting projects); Christmas: Bell-Ringers (Kettle Campaign), Toy Distribution Elves, and Christmas Day Party-People (both, food prep leading up to Christmas, and ‘day-of’ volunteers).
