Link #321 - Wednesday

Greetings in the name of Jesus.

The scripture is fairly vague in what happened on the Wednesday of this week that is leading up to Good Friday. Some traditions refer to this day as “Spy Wednesday” recognizing that it was in this time that Judas agreed to betray Jesus. As we consider the death of Jesus on the cross it can be easy to not recognize that in fact there was another level to his suffering - betrayal. He had spent 3 years with the disciples and in these days leading up to the cross he knew they would betray him. He knew the level of betrayal that Judas agreed to. Some of us might know that that feels like, to be betrayed by a friend, family member or neighbor. Jesus knows what that is like, but that would not distract him from what he was sent for.

Matthew 26:14-16

14 Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests 15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
