Link #326 - The what, the why, the how (and the “not to”) of prayer.

Greetings in the name of Jesus.

Our weekend at Bloor Central always begins with a good meal on Saturday evening. This week we start with a carrot ginger soup with a main course of Asian chicken stir fry, veggies and rice. Desert is made up of fresh pineapple and strawberries. More important than the food is the opportunity for us to connect with our neighborhood. Everyone is welcome to join us Saturday between 4-6pm to share the meal together. Bring a friend, or come meet a new one. Either way, we hope you will join us Saturday.

On Sunday morning we do some prep work for our week of prayer. The what, the why, and how (and the “not to”) of prayer. It is incredible that the God of creation invites us to know him better through prayer. It is an amazing concept. On Sunday morning we will be exploring this amazing world of prayer. We hope you can join us Sunday morning at 10am as we again be seek God together.

The big news is that Sunday we kick off our annual 24/7 Prayer week. We will gather at 6pm on Sunday night for a prayer meeting that gets the week going. If you would like to book an hour to pray you can sign up at the Church, or online at                          ://signup.24-7prayer.com/signup/c2c218 .

Some might wonder why we make such a big deal of our 24/7 prayer week. Certainly we can pray anywhere, anytime, so why do we focus on one room for this week. There are a number of benefits to this kind of prayer exercise.

  • Encourages us to push us into new opportunities to pray.

  • Opportunity to sacrificially express our desire for conscious contact with God.

  • Promotes unity in prayer. (eg. postings, prayer journal, thanksgiving tree, sharing our collective experience).

We are looking forward to see how God will use the coming week of prayer.
