Link #336 - Pentecost Sunday
Greetings in the name of Jesus.
Again we are looking forward to another weekend at Bloor Central and we hope you will join in. On Saturday evening we gather with our community and share a meal (7ATE9). We serve every Saturday from 4-6pm and it gives us a wonderful opportunity to share life with out neighborhood. If you have never been with us on a Saturday we’d really want to invite you to drop by. You are more than welcome to bring a friend, or you could come and meet a new one. This week our meal kicks off with home made potato corn soup and our main course will be an Italian sausage in tomato sauce on a fusilli with Parmesan (I had to look up what fusilli was). For desert we are defaulting back our my childhood with a Dad’s oatmeal cookie. It’s way more then food, and you are way more than welcome!
On Sunday we gather to seek God at 10am. It is a Sunday where Christians around the world celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. It is a significant day for all Jesus followers and fits in very much with the bible stories we’ve been looking at. Over the past few weeks we’ve been exploring “wilderness survival”. The scripture has lots of wonderful direction for those times our lives feel like we are stuck in the wilderness. It is possible to be stuck in the wilderness when we “run out of gas”. Most of us have had that experience where we just don’t think we can keep going. The prophet Elijah had an experience like that and we can learn a lot from him as we see how he got himself through the wilderness even after he’d run out of gas. It is a story that reminds us that God has not left us alone.
We would also like to remind you of a special event on May 29 at 7pm. There is an evening of worship, prayer and divine encounter planned at St. Paul’s Bloor Street (227 Bloor Street East). These have proven to be wonderful events with many Churches from across the city coming together and praying for revival. It is very worthwhile but if you plan on coming it is a good idea to get there early as it fills up quickly.
