Link #340 - It is what it is - or is it?
Greetings in the name of Jesus.
This is looking like an extra special weekend at Bloor Central. All our weekends are special, but this one is “extra” special and I’m not talking about the World Cup. That is because we have sent out a special invitation to our volunteers to join us on Sunday. This is an important time for us to express our appreciation to those who offer Bloor Central such valuable service through the year. We are always excited about visitors and this week usually is the Sunday when we get the most visitors of the year. With our volunteers here it is a great time to have our first BBQ of the 2026 season. The weather is not looking so promising but rain or shine we’ll be getting together after the service to share some burgers. We encourage you to make a special effort to join in the celebration this Sunday at 10am.
Also this Sunday we will be taking another look at Moses. His life was caught in a rut (a 40 year rut) and it seemed he was on a dead end. When our life has been powerfully affected by bad decisions we can feel stuck and end up simply assuming “It is what it is”. Our lives can get to the point where we lack hope, or enthusiasm for our lives because we’re stuck. So we accept the bleakness of our lives with “It is what it is”. But is it? Moses experience in the desert after 40 years gives us wonderful insight into how God works. Join us Sunday morning at 10am for our encounter with the God who called Moses (and calls you).
Yes we’ve got lots of action planned and I have not even mentioned our Community Dinner (7ATE9) yet. Saturday night we will be sharing a meal with our community from 4-6pm. This is a great chance to invite a friend to come and see Bloor Central in action, or come and meet a new friend. 7ATE9 is all about good food and good fellowship. This week the menu includes home made carrot ginger soup as a starter and soy ginger chicken, veggie stir fry on rice as the main course. Dessert will be our very popular chocolate chip banana bread.
See you at Bloor Central this weekend!
